Origins The
extraordinary history of Valditerra Spa
began in 1936, when Angelo Valditerra first recognized the great potential of
a strongly expanding railway construction sector. Italy needed to be unified and
a dense railway network appeared the pulsating heart of this new nation, with
constantly expanding transit of both goods and commuters. At the start Valditerra
consisted solely in Angelo and two workers. Thanks to ongoing skill and commitment
the foundations were laid for the company’s ongoing expansion, which has earned
it high acclaim on markets the world over.
The turning point The
turning point occurred in the 70’s.
Thanks to Angelo’s son, Sergio, who inherited all the passion and commitment of
his father and actually grew up on the tracks amongst the toil of the workers,
thereby getting an insight into the true complexity and work that went into the
construction of maintenance of track and the rail road bed; and as the result
of this he had a brilliant idea. After years of research and tests, he succeeded
in creating a machine which was to revolutionize the rail track operations. In
the rail world it was subsequently known as the “Valditerra
system track renewal train”. A train which in its standard
version, or with subsequent adaptations has the capacity to either newly lay or
restore a railway line in a single operation; giving excellent results in terms
of quality, performance, safety and function; results of such quality as never
before experienced in the railway construction sector. Another advantage is
that risky human intervention is thereby limited to a maximum. The first version
of the machine was called the Matisa P 811,
after the standards of the construction company which has also been responsible
for developing its patents and marketing. The P811
has been further improved and perfected through time. However innovative research
does not stop here and is ongoing.
